# Plan meals around meetings, not into them.

Back-to-back days are where meals go missing. Lunch was at 12:30, a call landed at 12:30, and by the time you surface it’s 3pm. A few rules keep food on the calendar even when the calendar is full.

## How do I eat lunch when I have back-to-back meetings?

Look at the day in the morning and claim the first real gap of 30 minutes near midday for lunch. If a meeting moves into it, move lunch to right after that meeting instead of dropping it. On days with no gap at all, plan a no-cook option you can eat between calls.

## Rules that hold up on busy days

1. **Plan the day in the morning**

   Paste the day’s meetings somewhere, or read them off your calendar, before you open your editor. Meal times should follow the calendar, not compete with it.

2. **Lunch needs a real gap**

   Thirty minutes is enough to eat without rushing. Ten minutes between calls is a snack, which is fine, but call it that and plan it that way.

3. **Move, don’t skip**

   When a meeting lands on lunch, lunch moves to right after the meeting ends. The meal still happens; it just happens later.

4. **Keep a no-cook backup**

   Yogurt, fruit, a wrap or leftovers. On days with no gap at all, the backup is the plan.

5. **Decide before the day fills up**

   Choose lunch in the morning, or order early. A decision made at 9am survives a meeting-heavy afternoon; one left for 1pm doesn’t.

6. **Block it if you can**

   A recurring lunch block on your calendar protects the slot from new invites. Even then, let it move when it has to.

## What rerouting looks like

Here a design review lands on lunch. Instead of disappearing, lunch moves to just after the review, and the water ping that collided with the 1:1 waits too.

```
@@ tuesday, after you add “design review 12:30 to 13:00” @@
- 12:30  lunch
+ 13:02  lunch, after design review
- 15:30  water
+ 16:02  water, after 1:1
```

## How Cronch does it

- Add meetings in plain text, like `standup 10:00, 1:1 15:30-16:15`, or connect your calendar with a secret iCal link. Cronch reads only start time, end time and title, and never writes to your calendar.
- Meals are planned around your work hours, with lunch aimed at 12:30 and a 30-minute window, then moved to after any meeting that overlaps it.
- Water and break pings wait until a meeting ends and never fire during quiet hours.
- Replan rebuilds the rest of the day when the afternoon changes, and keeps what you’ve already done.
- If there’s no 30-minute gap within two and a half hours of lunchtime, there’s no lunch slot to give you. That’s the day to ask “I’m hungry” between calls and get something quick that fits your diet.

You can add meetings from the dashboard, from the CLI with `cronch meetings`, or [from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor](https://cronch.io/mcp) with the `add_meetings` tool.

## Questions

### Does Cronch work with Google Calendar and Apple Calendar?

Yes, through a secret iCal link from either one, read-only. You can also paste meetings in plain text, or download the day as an .ics file to put Cronch’s plan in your calendar.

### What if I’m in meetings all day?

Then the honest plan is small meals between calls. Cronch moves what it can and tells you what’s next; the no-cook fallback covers the rest.
